Running-in a 400 2-Stroke??
Hi guys,
it will soon be time for me to re-assemble my 1994 400L and fire her up for the first time.
As she has new pistons, rings etc, what is the best way fro me to run her in properly?
Do I use a richer fuel/oil mix eg 30/1??? (I've disabled the oil pump).
Any tips for this would be great!

I've always been told to let them warm up for 5 minutes or so, varying the throttle between 1/4 and 1/2. The key is to not leave a constant RPM for too long. Some like more throttle. I've been told you want about 65% of the compression. Then let it cool down completely. Repeat this 3 times.
For the next tank or 2 of gas make sure to vary the RPM with full throttle for no more than 100 yards (or meters ). The key is to avoid glazing the cylinder walls. It's also recommended to use normal oil, not synthetic because synthetic oil has a higher flash point and can glaze the cylinders easier. I switch to synthetic after 4 or 5 tanks, mainly for less smoke.
I'm no expert. Most of this comes from snowmobile friends. I have used this method on two of my snowmobile rebuilds and it seems to work for me.

check the above thread out. I'm about to start pulling mine apart, do you mind telling me how you got the flywheel off, I tried with a pulley puller and it broke the puller. Did you rebuild the bottom end or no?
