I Just recieved the Turbo from Precision Industries today [ Garrett T12 ] , let me tell ya , it's just a wee Ladd , but we think it's going to be just perfect for for this project

hopeing for 75 hp with 6-7 PSI , we'll call it Stage 1, on a completely stock 700 carb engine

Looking to have it completed in the next 3-4 weeks and ready for testing

Keep you posted

WOW a turbo on a quad! now that sounds neat!

how much $$? will it work on EFI? (sorry if that's a stupid question but i'm no mechanic)

what's the realistic reliability with all that extra HP?

do you need to tweak anything else on the quad to make it work? clutching, carb, ect.

I'll get a pic of the turbo tommorrow for you

Were just going to keep this simple and safe with 6-7 psi max , around 50 % power increase , it'll be a non-intercooled setup based on a completely stock engine for starters, so far we've got most of the details figured out , were still waiting on some ignition and fuel delivery components

I'm not looking to set any records with this , but create a quiet , more powerfull running machine that has potential to evolve

Is it going to have an air filter box or are you going to leave the air filter exposed?

Were removing the air box

Interesting looking setup on the 500 ,............ It certianly wouldn't have been my inclination to lay it out that way but I'm sure it works , .............. notice it's a presurised carb setup ?

I contimplated this and there are ways around it , ........... it's possible we could mount the turbo right a the front at the original 700 2 into 1 merge , then run a suction tube up to the original air box and then the pressure side back to the carb inlet , ....the stock exhaust pipes could be modified and retained , using this location would make a better location to " Later " add an intercoller , but at 6-7 psi it's just not a big enough advantage , and we would have to do some engine work to acomodate more than 6-7 psi without pushing it to the edge with 9.6:1 compression that exists

The other possible concern with it up front is going through water , not a concern for me because this thing will probibly never see a puddle more than an inch deep , is the quenching off the hot turbo and possible cracking to the housing

I plan to do some sled pulling with this as well as a little recreation and towing my race car back to the pits so an exposed air filter for me is not a problem , especially under the seat

I'm working on this project in conjunction with an engineer friend of mine who is a " turbo freak " owns a buick GN powered 67 chevy 2 that runs 9's [ has one of our tansmissions of course ]

Were getting together this weekend to review the layout again and who knows , ........... that may change !!!
