Default 350 problem

i am working on my teachers quad witch had a blown piston. it got metal shavings everywere so i am completely tearing the motor apart. i have done everything myself. now i need someones help. i got the flywheel off and got the large cover off behind it. there is the two gears, i got the one on the left out but the gear on the crankshaft has a starnut type of bolt on it. I CANNOT GET IT OFF. does anybody know if it is lefthand threads or what. i dont want to damage it or anything so i thought i would get someone who has torn a quad motor like this apart before and knows what they are doing.

It is lefthand threaded, if you are talking about the brass starnut on the crankshaft itself.
