Wow maddog, your being just as helpfull as ever. lol Like no other first year model from any manufacturer has ever had problems?
Phrode, Sorry to hear about your troubles. I can't blame you for losing faith in your machine. If you do keep it, it may help to get a manual for it and figure stuff out for yourself. At least you would feel better about knowing what they are doing when they are servicing it. It is a first year model with first year bugs. At least you will be helping to make it better for others.

No hard feelings, I didnt take it to heart anyway. I was expecting a little flack for that comment, and I didnt read carefully enough. Sorry bout that, its been a bad forum day for me. I've screwed up in at least a half dozen posts today and spent another dozen fixing them.

Shifting problem too. I had the same issue when I got mine, my dealer told me that on some Phoenix's they were filled with gear oil. I was there when they empited my gear case and sure enough it was as thick as could be, once it was replaced with the ADL?? trans oil its now good as new.

I'm not "ripping" Polaris, after all at my dealer the sign says (and I quote)
POLARIS
Made in USA
In fact I was told that the Phoenix was US made; I guess they saw me coming since this was my first quad and I took a friends recommendation to buy Polaris.
Any how the 05 has been beaten on, flipped, sunk, slammed, mudded, raced, pounded, and plowed and she has always come back for more and more.
Would I buy another Polaris? Nope.

The Phoenix makes me nervous. It looks like a good quad. I think RCR and others will wake it up with some after market stuff. It might be challenging with it's very small carb. I noticed the rear shock is weak too (an adult rider will see this). I talked to a guy who bought one and got 5 miles on it and he thought it seized. Turns out the bolt on the end of the fly wheel came loose locking up the motor. Warranty will replace the crank and side cover.
I'm surprised Polaris is selling this adult Chinese model. I think it dilutes the Polaris line up. Now when you say buy (US) Polaris you have to put an asterisk by the Phoenix. I know my Boss has a Japanese motor, but lets face it, the Japanese have proven well here (I wish it was US). New to the ATV market, the Chinese just don't seem to assemble their new ORV machines very well. I've heard of a grab bag of problems in this regard. I would save and step up to a Trail Boss. You get what you pay for. If I'm wrong about the Chinese assembling the Phoenix then we have a different problem - correct me please.

I'm considering buying a Phoenix. I really need something in this range (150-250cc) for the wife and kid. Any updates to the Phoenix horror stories? Any positive impressions? And lastly, is the Phoenix just a Yamoto (insert the name of any Chinese quad) with a Polaris sticker? I can't believe it's not made in the US.

I have to admit that I do ride my Phoenix hard. I have had a share of problems but they were fixed at n/c and I hear that Polaris has made some updates since it last came out. Check out the first review I have seen on the net, I walked away feeling good despite everything.
I really need it to go whompin in the mud and I do not care how fast it goes, where its made, and if it can beat the rally.
