Cam Alignment on 99 scrambler 500HO
#1
Anyone know what the marks are for the alignment for the timing chain. It looks like there are three marks on the flywheel where the center mark lines up and puts the piston at TDC. The cam sprocket has 2 dots that I believe are down towards the head and lined up parallel with the deck surface.

hey easystroke the 3 lines on the flywheel are for a timing light only. You have to find a letter T on the fly
wheel and line it up with the point on the pullcord cover .make sure it is on compression stroke tdc and the lobes are pointing down towards the crank , the dowel on the cam should line straight up and down
with centre of crank.the dowel and the 2 dots should be at the top of the valve cover.do you know how to set the valves?if not leave me your email address and i will send you everything you need to do the whole job i photo copied it all out of polaris service manual.

Thanks for the info. I had already figured it out before anyone responded. After looking at everything I figured it out. Got it fired up no problem. I took a dive in some deep water on accident yesterday. Couldn't get it to start for nothing. It still had water in the cylinder because of the slant that the cylinder is at. The plug looked dry and I drained the ex. pipe. I thought it had major damage so I pulled the head to check it out. Lucky for me it was nothing. Next time I will suck the cylinder out with a shop vac first. Thaks again wildwilly.
