Thanks DirtFarmer I think that the 800 snorkle should be big enough to flow the air I need if its not I will modify it some how. Where did you get the 800 snorkle? Did you notice any gains with it on your 600? Thanks again for the pics.

I don't know if it was the seals or if the water gets in the snorkle on the clutch housing.

Sorry, I don't mean to steal the thread, but I figureed this is pretty close to the same topic.

Can you get any gains by modifying the airbox snorkle on a 500HO or is the stock snorkle sufficient for the smaller motor?

I have only had water in my clutch cover once and I was running back and forth threw a creek wide open. Other than that I have had no other problems.

Thats what I always hear, I don't understand why we had so many problems with ours, even when the water wasn't that deep. Maybe it is better now that I used silicone on the seals. I will have to go for a swim once.

Yea, I would check it out in some water and see what it does know. Like I said I ride creeks all the time and no problem except that one time. I have had my clutch cover off many times and everytime I put it back on I use some vaseline around the seal.

I got it off another member here because it wouldn't fit his 500 that he bought it for. I think they're around $20 at the dealer.

Mine does rev a little quicker with it but not a lot of difference, but I didn't change anything else either.

You should be able to get it from your dealer. You can also get it from here. That's where I ordered mine from. It's not installed yet. The part number is 5435932, Duct, Air Inlet, Large. You should also get 5411422 Gasket, Intake (between intake and air box lid) and 5812773 Seal, Foam, Large, Intake (foam seal that goes around the air duct and clutch intake near the gas tank). My stuffs still sitting on my workbench til I have time to work on it. The air intake is large enough to feed your 40mm carb. I've already made the measurements and it should easily outflow the 40mm flatside carb I'm installing.

Dirtfarmer, did you have to open up the hole in the airbox lid any and did it bolt up to the existing holes in the lid?

I just bolted it on, I did get a new gasket but the old one looked good so I reused it and saved the new one. I also reused the foam around the top of the ducts I just slit it where the old one went through and it fits good enough. You will need to move the carb breather and tape up the hole in the clutch breather where its hung. There is just enough room to get the large snorkle up in there.

If you look at this pic (click me) you could open it up a good bit more on the bottom. I didn't want to mess with the carb yet so I left it alone.

Good Luck, Jeff
