Default Etrex gps holder?

I believe BlackandRedWarrior has that gps and holder. He seems to like it, when I saw it last weekend, the holder keeps the gps close to the bars. B&R said, this saved the gps when he rolled it once.

Here's B&R's gallery it's picture #8.

When its mounted right on the bars like that it sure makes it tough to read when moving. The vibrations are unreal. The RAM Mount fixes this.

Yea I ordered the ram mount, it was alittle more expensive but it was more adjustible, had 2 rubber vibration *****, and the gps can just pop out and be a hand held without having to keep the original battery cover in your pocket.

Thanks for all the info any way!

The garmin mount is extremely stable (it's a direct mount) but you can't adjust it, it goes straight forward. So on the handlebars the screen will be facing to the left or right, unless you have a nice parallel spot on your bars (parallel to your face or view).

I used an old cell phone holder that we used back when they were larger. The one I have has foam rubber on the sides and you squeeze it to lock the gps inside then puch a button to release the gps. Works great and very easy to mount. I will post a picture in my page. I actually removed my speedo and mounted my gps right in front of me. This way, I have a speedo on the gps and tracking. trip milage and all the goodies in a gps. I also ran 12VDC to the back of the gps (Garman 72) so I never have to worry about dead batteries.

Just an FYI. The new battery cover that comes with the fixed mount can remain as the permanent battery cover so you can unclip and take GPS with you. The stock battery cover really isn't needed any more once you start using mount.
