Default HELP 500 SCRAMBLER SMOKED NEW BELT???

Just put a new belt on the scrambler 500 4x4 after removing a shim from the sceconday cultch. It seemed to ride fine, but after about 4 hours of riding it started coming apart flopping and such. Took it out and it looks like melted areas around the teeth on the sides. Do i need to put my shim back in? need advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much belt deflection were you running? Did you r machine want to move as soon as you started it? If you belt is too tight you will smoke it right away.

Deflection is 1 1/6" and it does not want to take off when I start it. Cant figure it out. Could it have been a bad belt?

It could of been but the part # is right on the belt. When you put the belt on oyu should be able to read the #'s as well form left to right those belts are directional.
