Guys I just put 0-30W synthetic in my 1999 sportsman 500. I know Polaris recommends their 0-40W but I thought for this winter in MN. 0-30W should be ok. What do you guys think. Also, would it cause a problem if I left the carbon plug (bolt on bottom of muffler) out. It sounds so much better that way. Thanks in advance.

I think 0-30 should be okay in Minnesota, as long as the oil designation "SH" is written on the oil bottle. I use a semi-synthetic oil made by Esso up here in Ontario, it is of course much cheaper than a Polaris brand oil, made by who? Why take the plug out of the muffler? I just take mine out to blow out the carbon, thats all. But with the new pipe from AAEN, the stock pipe has been sanded and repainted for the next owner.
