I know what stiffer springs and heavier tires can do to a machines ride and I am trying to stay away from that while maximizing traction.

In 1995 our family had two 95 Polaris quads in rapid succession. The first was an Xplorer, with soft Dunlops and the magic carpet ride springs. The second was the Sportsman 400 with the Goodyear tracker P's and the heavy duty springs.

The difference was like night and day. After we got the Sportsman the magic carpet ride was gone. It bounced on the bumps over 25 MPH and just could not be riden as fast as the Xplorer but the load carrying capacity was way up there. You could put 200 lbs on the front rack. 300 lbs in the middle and another 200 on the rear rack and still drag a deer. The rear spring was so stiff that we took it out and replaced it with an Xplorer standard spring but we left the front ones
alone.

The main reason that I bought the Polaris Magnum was for the ride and the automatic. I do not wish to stiffen the suspension or the ride with unforgiving tires (run flat EMTs etc.) and heavy duty springs. I don't have to be the monster master mudder. I just want to make a respectable showing.

I used to want to be the "baddest" mudder with the "baddest" machine. Even without the 26" Mudrunners I still am. The ride is much better now. The tires do feel less durable than the Mudrunners but that is to be expected. Three months ago I would not have even perceived the difference.

All I can say is the Bearclaws go great and traction is much better. Much better than stock.I am finally 100% content.

Sounds like the Bear Claws are worth looking into. I'll have to drive a machine with them installed. I can handle the Tracker P's but still have my doubts about the 25" Mud Runners and the EMT version is out of the question. Thanks.

Xplor do you have the standard Mudrunners or the EMTs? I don't know but I would think that the EMTs with the stiffer sidewalls would ride rougher. Also what width were your front tires?

I have the standard Mudrunners. The fronts, if I remember right, are 9". That is what I think roughed up the ride. When I get the stiff springs off, I will see the full impact that the 26" tires had on my quad.

Odin was running 5 psi in his and said the tires rode like "cement donuts".

He said the ride improved at 4 psi but was still on the firm side.

The Mud Runners have a stiff side-wall and the puncture resistance rating is ***

I run 5lbs,front and rear and I think it rides really good for a 4x4 quad,

Led,
Yes,the tires are the same as the Sportsman, same size to.I cant make a comparison on my quad because my stock tires have never been rode on.I can compare it to other stock Polaris 4x4 quads though.I have ridden other stock Polaris quads and the traction is much more superiour with the Mud runners,
