Sweet deal on Garmin ETREX GPS
#1
after going to Bull Gap this weekend and having Jimmypsp700's buddy Brian use his Garmin etrex gps to help guide us back to the parking lot at 1:30am I started thinking I may want to get one so I started researching the internet for the best deals. I found that walmart was the cheapest at $89 and all the other local stores want $99. I checked ebay and most of the people on there want just as much or more than you can just go to walmart and buy the dang thing for. anyways I went on www.amazon.com and found that they offer the Garmin Etrex GPS (yellow) for $89.29 and it comes with free super saver shipping which is 5-9 day shipping. the dealbreaker is that they offer you an amazon visa card which you can get instant approval for, once approved you will receive $30 off your first purchase using the amazon visa card towards your purchase. so I got my new Garmin Etrex GPS for $59.29 shipped.
this may sound like a bad deal to most people due to the fact that they have to sign up for a credit card but I figure that I'll just pay off the purchase and cancel the credit card anyways and it saved me $30 off my purchase. anyone agree with me or have any comments or questions?

Yea its good for us with good credit. As long as you cancel it or make sure there is no interest earning balance. They do this and 1 out of 4 will do like you, and the rest will just reuse it and then next thing you know they have paid hundreds in interest over a year or two and they make there money from that. Just remember to cancel it. Be carefull as many places that do this require you to maintain thier card for 1 year minimum and they have a minimum interest payment in the FINE print.
Its a nice one, I did the same as you, but I talked the guy at walmart into giving me the case with it for 99.99 so between that and not having to pay shiping charges It was worth it for me to get it at walmart.
I got my mount from RAM. it is a sweet mount for the atv, more expensive but I like that its very adjustible and has rubber ***** to help absorbe some of the shock.

I've got one of those. All I can say is buy a bunch of batteries cause they go through them like crazy. If you aren't using it then just turn it off. It will save you some battery money to put to bling for your fourwheeler.

Get the quick rechargable battery NiCad (camera isle) kit from Walmart for $16, comes with 4 AA and it can charge AAA too.
It has an AC and DC adapter (cig lighter style) for charging in the field if needed.

Got mine from Marlboro 2 years ago. They called it free, but it was 2500 Marlboro miles. Let's see, 5 miles to a pack, 500 packs, 3 bucks a pack, yep that was a bargain. The wife smokes, I collect the miles.

I did the same thing when i ordered my Magellian meridian plus free shipping

Im looking for a gps unit. How do they work in the woods on the trails? Do they loose the signal? I have alot of hills and mountains up here in Mass and I ride in the state forest alot. I would like to get one but do they stop working if they dont have a direct line of sight? Reason i ask is i have a delorme earthmate gps for the laptop in the van and it looses the signal if you on the highway and you go down a hill and your at the bottom of the hill and sourounded by mountains.
Please let me know,

The Garmin Etrex GPS that Brian used over the weekend worked flawless and never lost a signal even while we were in the deep woods at night. we basically used the GPS to find our way back to the vehicles that night. he got his using his ciggarette packs as well, he said he gave one of his lungs for the GPS which I don't feel is an even trade. I figured I'd keep my lungs and the rest of my internals free from all that bad stuff and just pay the money for the GPS. If you go to walmart they even have bundle packs which come with the Garmin Etrex GPS, a nice carry case and a recharging kit all for $110
