Default rear diff fluid 800EFI Question

Hey guys, I was changing my oils in my 800 EFI with 33 hrs on it, I thought it was about time to get all the metal flakes out. I am wanting to keep my investment in the best possible shape, and trouble free! All of the fluids from the front diff and the tranny looked great, however the rear diff looked like it had a lot of silver metal flake in it, enough to make the oil almost silvery. Is this normal? this is my first polaris, and first independent rear suspension. Have any of you had this happen? I will check it again in a week and see what it looks like, hopefully it was normal break-in color. thanks in advance

Default rear diff fluid 800EFI Question

The rear gearcase has two chains in it and the oil will have some metal in it from breakin and possiably a couple more oil changes until the chain and sprockets get broke in.

Default rear diff fluid 800EFI Question

Chadb,

I don't think that is correct, the 400-500 HO have an internal chain drive yes, the 6-7-800 twins have a normal gear case. I was told this a few months ago. It would be the same as the front.

Default rear diff fluid 800EFI Question

That is normal for the rearend...I've changed mine 3 times and it still has a ton of flake in it.....I talked with Polaris, it is a coating on the inside of the hub....they said it is of a material that has almost no consistency, i.e. it will not cause any wear, etc.....
