Default Rear wheel bearing play?

Hey how much play or slop should there be in the Rear wheel bearings on a sp700?

If I jack it up with my Crewline and grab the wheel/tire at the top and bottom, like you might do on a car, and push on it top to btm. it seams to have quite a bit of play back and forth.

This seams more than I would think is normal, both sides are about the same.

When I get Home I will check if there is much movement in mine. I just had it serviced, so I will let you know.

my buddy has a 2004.5 500 sportsman and his drivers side rear wheel does the same thing. It is real bad, his dealer said it is normal though! My 00' isn't that bad, but his just came back from the dealer. He's buying a new bearing and we are putting it in as soon as he gets over his back surgery. It may be a few weeks but I'll let you know if the new bearing makes it any better.

My 04.5 500 did the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they told me the wheel bearings were shot. Had both sides replaced....265.00!!!!! Both of my rear tires would move back and forth. The dealer also told me he has seen it on sportsmans. It seems to be a common problem. Stay out of all water, mud, creeks ect., it will eat the bearings out fairly quick.

I don't think you will notice any differance unless you get the power jet kit that comes with different jetting.
A freind with a 500 HO did say he noticed a big differance but i didint on my machine.
