Default TrailBoss Starter problems

Just bought an old 86’ Trailboss to fix up for the kids. The starter has some issues. The former owner had a replaced the starter and the bendix unit but the problem still exists.
The starter starts to turn over the motor then continues to spin but the motor stops spinning. I asked if he checked the fly wheel and he said it looked fine. I haven’t taken it apart yet but was wondering if anyone else has run into this? What are the weak spots on these old motors? Is there an adjustment for the starter motor? Is the flywheel still avalible?
Thanks for any insight?
