Default Clicking in rear end...

On my sportsman, every 1 revolution of the back axles/tires there is a loud pop. I hope it isnt a CV joint, although I couldnt imagine how one could be bad - I've never had a ripped boot for more than maybe 5 miles, and I clean and repack the joint every time. Sounds like its coming from the rear gearcase maybe? Hard to tell, even after walking behind someone while the rode it forward.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a CV joint to me. It takes next to nothing to destroy a CV joint. If you get even 2 specks of dirt in them, they will have to be replaced. Whenever I had to replace them, they always made like a clicking sound whenever I turned.

I have heard nothing but bad things about the polaris boots on the shafts. When I buy my new sportsman, I am going to take the shafts off and put an aftermarket boot on them. Just so I don't have to worry about the boots every 5 miles I ride. I think that is the only flaw on the new sportsman. They are one bad stump pulling, mud blasting machine.

That is a good idea to put aftermarket boots on a sp right away. I didn't know Polaris boots were so weak until I tore 3 boots on my sp500 after about 2,000miles of riding. I installed one of gorilla's neoprene thermoplastic boots(the heavy duty one) and the difference between that and the polaris boot is night and day. Their website is www.gorilla-axle.com

Alright, thanks guys. Any danger to just leaving that alone for awhile? I dont want to spend 300 dollars, so I don't really want to further investigate the problem.
