HELP!! removing front axle from diff

removing front axle from diff
How do you remove the axle from the front diff on a an '03 sportsman 600. I've tried yankin' but it doesn't want to go. I see a clip on the new one but am unsure what that has to do with it. Do you have to dismantle the front differential? Please help...wanna get back out there ridin. thanks

To quote the service manual I have open for a 400-- but with same central-hilliard design--
"With short, sharp jerks, remove drive shaft from front gearcase."
Thats all it says, so I guess you just muscle it outta there.
