Default 2005 800 EFI PLastic melting?

I just recently purchaced a 800 EFI..I have over 100 miles on the ATV and to say im pleased with it is a understatement..
But ive read in other forums as well as here that theres been a problem with the right side plastic melting I would imagine
due to the exahust running so close to it..I inspected mine this afternoon and i see no problem..Just courious at what mileage or hours was this
noticed by owners who had melting? My 800 has a heat shield between the plastic and pipes....

He didnt say he was not pleased he said that saying pleased is an understatement. He is more than pleased. Overjoyed! Pleased does not describe what he feels. Or are you asking if there is something he does not like?

Depending on riding coniditions it could happen right away. It happens down here (and will get worse with summer) because we ride 90% of the day in low pulling big tires. We dont get much airflow. No magical mile marker to go by. Heck if all your riding is in high you may never see it....not sure. As far as the plastic being close...you may want to look again. Every 800 I have seen has had the plastic sitting on the heat sheild. I ceramic coated my head pipe.

Mileage can and will vary. On mud rides we can burn a tank in a day and maybe go 6 miles. Havent been on a trail (i.e. no mud) ride yet.

www.jet-hot.com if you want to send it off. I had two of mine coated by them. This time I took the chance of a local place that I havent used before.
