How does that old saying go, when we are finally able to afford it, we are to old to enjoy it.
I had a 1974 260Z, just a driver nothing special, then the kids came.

Sounds like a great choice to me drlang. I know someone who owns one and he is quite happy.

The Mazda Tribute is the same vehicle, same price or cheaper, with a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty.

I'd also recommend (highly) that you check out a Honda CR-V before you purchase.

One thing I want to point out guys, I've followed cars my entire life - it's just something I enjoy. I'm generally not a brand loyal guy, however I do tend to like Chrysler Corp. vehicles. But, as you can see, I'm not throwing out personal opinions, just suggestions from the general data that I've learned/read from different automotive sources and my own experience (I test drive a lot of cars!).

My Dodge boy side says you went wrong when you stepped foot on the GM parking lot, however the sensible side of me says there's nothing wrong with a GMC truck - and the Duramax/Allison combo is one of the best out there.

Second of course, to the Cummins

Watch out, though, in the next year or two Toyota is bringing out 3/4 and 1 ton trucks with a diesel motor option. They're co-designing with their Medium Duty truck company, Hino, who has an excellent repuation. I'm sure the American truck manufacturers have a close eye on this one...
