Getting Scrambler 400 4X4 whats good/bad about them
#12
jimmypsp700: Thanks for the link, I'll read up on it. Everything always looks easy in the book until you actually do what it says. I had to pull the head on my LT230 and the manual said to leave the engine in the frame and yet when I went to slide the head off the studs it hit the frame.
BeltDrive: I was given the Polaris shop manual with the quad. I always thought these were better than the clymer manuals, or should I have both. Let's hope I won't need to use it too soon.
I've also been reading that the chains have a tendency to snap and somebody sells and chain tensioner? Recomended, or waste?

I would highly recommend the chain tensioner and many other do too.
I don't do much jumping either but it helps keep it at the right tension and save on making adjustments and keep it from breaking. Its good insurance.
You can get it at RcR and HPD, HSP.

Well, today was my first ride on my 400 Scrambler and what a machine. It goes everywhere and fast. Keeps up if not outruns a lot of the sportquads out there and has 4WD too! Fun machine, happy Polaris owner.
