I'm getting a new Sportsman. Already got the dough, just haven't decided who to buy from, and how much to pay.

A 2000 is not out of the question. 2001 would be nice. Here are my options. Tell me what you think. Keep in mind, that I have to unload a 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4, that I owe close to six grand on, and is only worth $4200 on trade in.

These are all "out the door" prices.

Dealer #1:

$7100 for a 2001, or $6599 for a 2000, and he will help me sell the Scrambler at no charge. He is also the closest to me. About twenty miles.

Dealer #2:

$6845 for ''01. $6425 for the 00. About 45 minutes away, and doesn't even want to see the Scrambler.

Dealer #3:

$6299 for the 00, and list plus tax for the 01. Will help sell the Scram for no charge. Also about 45 minutes away.

I don't know WHAT to do. I think it would help to have the Scrambler at a dealership. And I guess it realy is worth a couple hundred bucks.
As of right now, my inclination is to go with dealer 1, buy the 01, give him the extra $250 over dealer #2, IF, he can get me a silver one.
Everybody I've talked to says that silver one gets NO discount.

Thanks for your help.
Dave

Look at SERVICE more than price. The product is a known commodity, but service is a can of worms. Also look at extended warranty from Polaris. $400 got me 30 months +6 factory for 36 months total.

My '01 was $6450 and I traded in my sled for a good price. This price did NOT include 5% WI sales tax.

Remember if you trade, you'll save $ on tax, OR some dealers do your machine as a "run through" Basically you have it private party sold, but trade it in to dealer who immediately sells it to the private party at same price. You save tax, and dealer has no cost in transaction.

Next, if you OWE more than 6K on your '00 you had better find a better bank or get a better job to pay more monthly!

Het IndyDave, have you called Greenfield Motorsports? They have good prices and EXCELLENT support. Steve Reddick knows everything about Polaris and Yamaha, he can fix anything (except my Scrambler but we're working on it.) There # is 317-462-2262, call them up and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the suggestions, AND the insult, wise ***. The job is fine. I've had the Scrambler for two months, and made one payment. I'm stupid, not poor. Polaris can take thier StarCard and shov.....

$7100 is way to much for a 2001 model. i think your prices seem high, i have heard of people getting 2000 models for $5900.
but go with the dealer that has the best service.

The dealer in Hattiesburg, MS quoted me $ 6,099.00 for a 2000, and $ 6,499.00 for the 2001. He offered a free winch, $ 300.00 worth of accesories, or an additional $ 200.00 discount on the purchase price. For out of state customers, no sales tax...
