Is my buddy right???
I know this topic was probably beat on alot but my friend owns a 2004 Raptor 660 and he says the Predator doesn't compare to the Raptor in anyway such as torque, power, top speed, handeling, reliability, etc. I know this is the Polaris post and I"m sure your all going to say the Predator is better but I"m sure on the yamaha post they would say the Raptor is better. I just wanna know is my friend right cause in magazines and other forums I read they always say the Predator is better and he never believes me.

My experence is this, I have a 03 pred my brother a 02 raptor. He has a pipe, jetting, no air box lid and a load of problems with his 2nd gear. I have a pipe, jetting and air box mod as well. I am 240 he is 210. I barely get him out of the gate (cause hes always nose in the air)and very slowly pull away from him till i red line then i keep about 3 bike lengths in front of him. Sand, pavement, you name it its always the same.
I will not knock the raptor...It is a fun quad, just a little top heavy for my tastes. His is more fun on the trails i think (reverse and great torque) but when it comes to open spaces i just like the pred better.
The one thing that is a mess on a raptor is trying to get the jetting right, a bad idea of two carbs has made jetting that thing a chore.
I have another friend that has an 01 raptor with piston, cam, intake, exhaust and cdi that i watch eat banshees all the time (and yes big bore hi comp banshees as well)
So the only thing i can say is go ridding, and just let him keep talking.

No doubt. Proper jetting is essential for a fast Raptor and I see a lot of slow "piped" Raptors..........................but the ones that are jetted properly, look out! I ride with a couple piped Preddys and when I was stock they would smoke me bad. Now I beat them consistantly but they do beat most other piped Raptors we come across.
