Now that I got to thinking about it when I changed to oil for the first time the other day I did notice some metal shavings on the drain plug magnet. Is this normal? I'm kinda worried now that I think about it.

A friend of mine changed his oil on his 500 HO. after the first 40/hr. and he said the same thing, I also did my first oil change the other day after the dealer recomended 10/hr. and i also had a little bit of shavings.

 

i dont own a sportsman, nor do i know anyone that does, but that sounds normal.

 

Yeah that's normal for a new engine. That's why that magnet is there. If you get alot of metal on it in the future then it's time to start worrying. That's why they want you to change the oil after it's broken in.
