front wheels enguage when in 2wd...???
So last weekend I noticed at the end of a 100 mile mostly dry trip, I couldn't slide the back end like I wanted to cause the front wheels were enguaging... but I was in 2wd??? I've heard of others having this problem, but never did on my '03 sp600, or on my new '05 until
now. Did anyone ever determine the exact cause???

since no one else has chimed, i will do my best...although i haven't had this problem.. first, see if the AWD light is on when you slide the swithc to AWD...if it is not, then i am guessing your switch is bad and some how leaving the AWD on all the time....
second, if the switch is good, how is your speedo acting, i know they can effect the AWD system....
that is the only 2 i can think of rite now, but like i said, i don't know, these are just ideas until someone else comes along.-PB500

Like someone said this is a common problem with that year. They changed to a single Hilliard clutch in the front and have had problems with them.
Not going to get into the dynamics here but if it’s under warranty take it back to the dealer and you are going to have to raise hell because they will tell you that there is nothing wrong, but there is and there is a Polaris bulletin on it.
If you’re not under warranty change the fluid in the front and it may fix your problem temporarily but the problem is in the design.

Dano - check the fluid first. That's always the problem with the outboard hubs on my xplorers.
