What else is different, here is what was pointed out in the October 2000 issue of Dirt Wheels. Note I read this review on the Polaris web site for the Sportsman.

Motor has 20% power increase, improved clutching, steering geometry changed for better as well as a steel bearing instead of the plastic, thicker steering shaft, complete redesign on water protection for belt drive, stainless steel brake lines and redesigned brake lever for easer operation, heat treated disks and improved brake pads. The shifter was also changed to make it easer to pull in and out of gear.

So as you can see other then what makes you go, stop and turn on the HO, the rest is the same.

Now I say enough with comparing the 2000 to the 2001 HO because the new machine is just plain better. And as for comparing the price? What did the 2000 sell for 12 months ago, the same price as the HO sells for now! If all you care about is “dollars” and not “sense” then buy a 1999 and save even more!

2001 Sportsman HO stock
2000 Scrambler stock
1997 Scrambler (Ritter-ized) gone
1994 Banshee, gone
1974 Ellsinore, gone
1966 Rupp Roadster, gone

Deisel,
I have a K%N with a 142 main jet, the Plutinum is Black on the threads but the electrod is pretty clean. I'm going to do the mixture screw sometime in the next few days. I talked to a couple of the mechanics and they said I shouldn't have a problem with it unless I lean it down too much.(colder whether is coming) I also did the throotle cable thing, I run the ITP Magnums with 26 Inch Mudrunners with the Progressive front springs. I was thinking about the EPI kit but I think I might go with the white spring first and then the clutch kit followed by the Hot set exhaust system.
