The other day I took my dad's 2004.5 sp 400 for a ride and man does that thing have a loud rattling sound coming from the lower driveline when you let up off the gas when going 30 mph or faster. He has been back to the dealer and was told it is normal...It sounds like something is going to fly apart in the tranny??. Does anyone else have this problem with their 400 sp?? He is considering getting rid of the bike and purchasing a 500 HO like mine in a 2005 but I was wondering if the 2005's have this noise also?? I have the '05 SP400 w/EBS and have not had that problem. I just get a little vibration from the front storage compartment. Outside of that, really like the machine. I'd suggest taking it to another dealer because that doesn't sound right at all.

 

The noise is normal, all polaris 4x4's will have it, its slack in the drivetrain to prevent breakage, every dealer will tell you the same thing, to understand better ask the mechanic for his version, they make noise, but they never break! forget and ride, provided your fluid levels are correct.

 

The 04's and 04's and a half do have a very anoying rattle which is comming from the front rack. It vibrates against the front bumper thing, as well as the metal support. I have eliminted them all
