Default Temperature gauge mounting

I recently installed my water temp gauge on my '05 700 SP. The gauge is mounted in a plastic housing that is mounted on the right side of the headlight pod. I thought I have seen someone in this forum that had mounted their gauge directly in the headlight pod. I wanted to mount mine like that but the handlebars don't allow enough depth.

Is there someone that makes a gauge that is thin enough that will fit in that location??

I'm not sure how the 05's are but on my 03 I had plenty of room for the gauges. Look here for the 700 gauge pics.

LIKE SPORTSMAN 70003 I HAVE MY GAUGES MOUTED IN THE POD. I GOT THE GAUGES FROM OREILLYS FOR ABOUT $30.00. I THINK THE BRAND IS SUN-PRO. THEY ARE REAL THIN AND EASY TO MOUNT.

How are they holding up?? The gauge I have now was made for an ATV and is sealed against the elements. Yeah, I probably would not want to spend a lot of cash on these but if they don't last, whats the use??

Got mine at www.jtatv.com. Paid about $100.00 for it last year. It is a really nice unit but if the inexpensive automotive gauges will hold up I will switch to those.

Hello, sp70003,
What high temps do you see on a hot day in TN? Some readings from various situations would be appreciated.

If it runs over 210degs the HOT light will come on ... i found the cooling system on the 500HO to work very well ... i get the same temps at 10 degs or 110 degs ... the only thing that causes over heating is a clogged radiator.

Mine runs about 190 - 195 in cold & hot weather. The only time it showed a hotter reading was when my radiator was clogged.
