Have you tried pulling some of the washers out from between the clutch halves. this will bring you clutch halves closer together. wich will result in a faster grab from you clutch. well hope what ever you do helps

Great suggestion!. I looked at the drive clutch picture in the online parts manual for the Magnum 500 and I believe that you would be referring to parts reference #9 which would be the spacers varying in width from .020 to .050". I really think that you are on to something here. A narrower "spacing" would require less RPM for the belt to grab.

The only downside that I can see is the experimentation level required to get it as close as possible to a creep mode without engaging and without affecting the ability to shift gears. (which becomes difficult with a dragging belt)

my brand new 00 explorer is doing the same thing, the dealer thinks i'm crazy! If I am on a hill with my wife on back it seems like i really have to gas it in order fot it to get going. My 300 is not like that at all. In fact my 300 takes off better on a hill with the two of us than my 400 does, I'm going to try the suggestions you guys said, THANKS! Bosty

I put on a new belt just you guys said and everything is back to normal.
The old belt was glazed and worn down to 1.125 (the service limit)

Anyway it lasted 2,087 miles.

NEVER WASH YOUR CLUTCHES WITH SOAPY WATER!!!!!! Use a non-residual brake or electronic cleaner. Use compressed air to blow out the belt dust (don't snort the air/dust) Clutches run dry!!!! Small amounts of anti-sieze can be applied to the mounting splines, and the secondary splines...small amounts. I've been running the HPD Kevlar belt (still the same belt) all summer on a HPD race-mod. Just got back from a hard weekend of dune climbing and sand drag-racing at Silver Lake.....still running the same belt. If you want to end your belt woes.....BUY THIS THING!!!!
