What's with my rear wheel bearings?

The new bearings I just got were made in China.
If I wasn't going on this ATV trip this week I would wait & find some better ones. I am going to search for a BCA, Fedral Mogul, Timken or some type of American bearing for the next time.
Chinese stuff sucks!

Polaris, Rear Wheel Bearings 600/700/magnum 330/ATP
This bearing is for the newer style setup with a separate rear gear case. An equivalent can be had by going to your local bearing supply dealer and asking for the part # below.
There are most likely several manufacturers of an equivalent and any brand will do
Rear Wheel Bearing (Polaris part # 3585502) @ $54.99
NTN Brand bearing, # DEO8A27 @ $35
Napa part # FW 143 @ $22 will work just as well.
from another site.

my rear wheel bearings went out on my 05 polaris also at 300 miles. i have a friend who works at a place that makes bearings and he said they make more wheel bearings for polaris than any other atv company. $22 is a dang good price for those bearings. just looking at them i figured they would be around $100 a peice. after all the trouble i had with my polaris and the bearings went out to in that short amount of time i went ahead and traded it for a vinson. i have over 200 trouble free miles out of it. the only thing i dont like about it is the week tubing on the front bumper. i was at the mud bogs last week and got stuck and i let someone ****** me out by the hook on the winch plate and it twisted my front bumper. i guess ill have me one costum made.

While I was waiting for my hub bearings to be pressed in at the dealer I went up & checked out the Brute Force just to see how it compared to my sportman.
I was looking at the underneath of the Brute Force to see how they were built,
1) I noticed that the front rubber brake lines are out in the open & if you were to hit a stick they would be toast.
2) Also I noticed they have no place to put a rear hitch.
3) Also I noticed that all of the drive shafts are real small diameter. I wonder how these will hold up?
4) In my opinion I saw some stuff on that bike that looked real small, axles, hubs, etc compared to my sportsman.

Just wanted to let you know & for any one else working on these bearings please post the part #'s you purchase so in the future we all can save a little money versus going to the dealer & getting molested on dealer prices.

I have some more info on the Hub Bearing topic.
I just went to Napa & purchased the # FW143 hub bearing - This bearing is made in Brazil & was $ 31.80 ea. It is a direct replacement for the stock Polaris # 3585502 hub bearing that I just paid $ 62.00 ea for at the Polaris dealer that was made in China. I installed the Chinese bearings last night in my 2002 Sportsman 500. I will put the Napa ones on the shelf for future repairs.
The Polaris dealers are telling me that this is a common problem. These are sealed bearings but water, dirt & mud will still penetrate & eventually ruin these bearings. I would suggest all of you go to Napa & pick up a few for inventory. You will need them.
