Default Recoil Starter Probs....

2001 Trailblazer 250:

The cord on the the recoil was all the way out, not going back in... so I took the cover off, and the rope was not connected to the reel... so I put it back through the hole and tied a knot, and then wrapped the cord around the reel to where it lines up when u bolt it back on, and when i pulled to see if i did it right, it started, but the rope didnt wind up all the way.... about 6 inches was haning out when it stopped winding up.....

sooo... did i instal it wrong... or is the spring bad??

also, how do i get to the spring?? thanks...

You did not wind the spring tight enough. Take it about three turns more.
