it may take a couple of oil changes to get the water out i have heard of something you can spray in there
between the oil changes to dry it out but i cant remember what its called. this is your tranny right and not your counter balance. if its your cb thats something totally different.

Drain your tranny fluid and spray in some PB Blaster. It will get rid off all moister in your tranny. Then drain out all the PB Blaster. ( I would use the hole can) Then put your new tranny fluid back in. You should change you fluid after you first ride just to make sure all water and PB Blaster is gone. I swear by the PB Blaster. I got water in my counter balance oil. I changed the oil about 10 times and still had water. I used 1 can of PB Blaster and all the water was gone.

You had best check that counter balancer everytime you ride.
That old 400 two stoke is a good engine and it is cheap to rebuild as long as the counter balancer does not come apart.
Once it comes unglued it is all over but the crying.
They seldom fail as long as they have good clean oil in them.
