i beat on mine more then anyone that i ride with and thats saying alot... i jump it at least as high as the quad stands bottom it out when landing.. mud in the river up to the racks until water gets in my airbox ( no water in the belt) ride wheelies, rolled it, brake stands for 100 or 200 feet, pull rocks, trees, stumps, race, hit things , bottomed it out, hit the rail road tracks at 40 mph, yet to say my polaris is holding up well... i think some guys need to maintain their machines a little better.

Bionic a little WD-40 will solve that silly little probem!
upnort the last thing u want to do is pressure wash a raid, it will bend all the fins over causing it to loose its cooling capibility

KINGSCLEAR is right you guys, polaris has problems as do others and if u want to argue that i will argue back saying that polaris outsells the competor by alot and with more atvs out there, the overall % of the atv problems will be on polaris!!!! do the math...

Dumping Polaris ATV's is one thing....but dumping Polaris sleds?!!!!!??? Are you crazy???? And a ski doo to boot???

I rode one of those new Revs.....I got off that pile and jumped back on my Edge Vertical Escape.

Polaris makes one of if not the best atvs out there. Since 2003 the polaris reliability issure is over, there is no such a thing anymore. That was the old Polaris's. Other brand loyalists bring that up, because thats the only they got against Polaris. If u ask me, i would guess they're jealous? ........... AND BY THE WAY... i've had no problems with my '04 SP 700

then why has my 04 scrambler been a $$ bucket if it was pre-03??? as for maintanance...how am i supposed to avoid the blown tranny?? i was in the mud and click, there goes the tranny...the CV joint, the boot was fine, just snapped the cv joint underneath it.... the hub, powersliding, hit a rock sideways....that shattered instantly.

The only reason you can say the 03 models and up are more reliable is because they havent been around long enough to all fall apart. What about all of the problems with the first 600's and 700's? How about the predator's 2003 tranny troubles? Polaris still has reliability problems whether the owners of them would like to come to grips with it or not.

RJF, I told you the problems with the atvs were bad. My step father was a polaris guy through and through but the atvs were so bad he didnt want to take the chance with any other polaris product regardless of what it was or how good it was supposed to be.

But see this is what I'm saying Maddog56. I have a riding buddy who had a 2004 700 Prairie same as the one you have in your gallery. It spent more time in the shop then he rode. He said it was the worst piece of junk he has ever owned. He now has a 2005 650 Honda.

one thing i learned a long time ago is we all agree to dissagree and if you think a polaris is going to break more then the others you are dead wong. The others will break just as easy.If i was to kill my predator i would(and Have)kill a yamaha raptor.mybe some of you had some idems break quick, and i can understand you anger, but bashing the maker isn't going to solve anything. If you had a polaris and killed it you will end up killing your next quad ! I beleive some of you don't maintain you atv, alittle maintance makes a differance.

Now I not going to say polaris is the best, but with some of the problems I've had, I'm sure happy that it was a Polaris because, they will and did fix it.Example,,back in 2001 yamaha gave all us raptor guys hell when our tanny's blew,They wouldn't cover it.2003 came and polaris has SOME predators blow tranny's,Most of which were fixxed on polaris's dime.Another example,I broke my 04 predator frame from jumping to much,Polaris replaced my frame NO questions asked. Now some will say ,,See you broke your frame, all I can say is give me a few months or 400 hours and I'll break any of the other sport atv's frame. I'm a very hard rider and I really beat the crap out of my pred and it takes it well.

In my opinion every manufacturer has occasional problems. They are all machines and will all eventually fail. When Polaris started making atv's there were some problems that needed ironed out. But you have to keep in mind they led the way in new ideas as well.

In todays age any atv is going to be as dependable as the next. Are you going to once in a while get a piece of crap atv? Yes you will, just like a car, truck, snowmobile or boat.

I have a GMC Sierra 2500hd which I maintain almost analy. It has 67000 miles on it now and just got a new engine because the first one failed. So are all GMS's junk? I had a Ford that had tranny problems on a regular basis and drove me crazy, so are all fords junk? I also had a Dodge that lived in the dealers shop with everything from distibutor, timing chain cover, rear main seal etc. etc. all with under 30,000 miles. So are all Dodges junk?

With atv's I have seen problems with Raptors (trannys), Grizzlys (cooling), Hondas (rear drive shaft bushings, electronic shifting), Suzukis (cronic smokers), and I could go on and on and on and on and on.....

In todays world, find an atv that rides and handles the way you like, that has the power you want, and fits the purpose you want it for then BUY IT! Then maintain it the way you should and your chances of dependability are going to be sixes.

Thats nice, but it doesnt make polaris any more reliable. Their machines are still riddled with problems, usually more than other manufacturers. Yes the Prairie line has had its share of problems, but the Rincon has a weak transmission and isnt all that reliable either. I had a honda rancher that ran flawlessly for years despite the torture I put it through, my step father's polaris' are seldom used and only trail ridden when they are. They are meticulously maintained as well, yet still fail to operate on numerous occasions.

If you take a look around none of the big bore utility quads are all that reliable. AC, Kawi, Zuki, Polairs or Honda. And when you have 4 big bore utility models in your lineup and only one sport quad, Polaris is going to have a greater number of problems through the line.

I'm sick of hearing how polaris's are riddled with problems and the others aren't . thats just straight bull. Unless you've owned a few different atv's and compared their down time then maybe you can bad mouth the heell out of them. I have been riding atv's for 20 years and have owned many different kinds. I can tell you that not one of them broke way more then the other, they all have there flaws and they all break someday. It's just like snownut said, his gcm needed a new engine after 65,000 miles does that mean GMC's are junk,,I think not! I had a chevy k5 blazer that had 200,000 miles on it and still ran great, Sometimes you just get a lemon.
