400 sportsman no power

Default 400 sportsman no power

i have a 2004 400 sportsman there is gas leaking out of a hose attached to the bottom of the carb i moved the hose so it pointed up and the gas stopped but now i noticed the bike has no power on hills and bogs out only 10 mph up hill . any ideas

Sounds like your float level is to high in the carburator.

Default 400 sportsman no power

I had the very same problem this past summer, took it to the dealer and he replaced the jet. All he told me is that I had a bad jet. Still under warr. so no big deal.

that is your overflow hose and it should have tiny ammounts of gas dripping out of it shouldnt be running out, point it back down and your power should come back

I dont have a Polaris but I can tell ya when I had gas coming out the same hose on my carb the float needed cleaned. If it has sat a lot especially it will cause this. Clean your float bowl and you should be good to go.

if your fuel is pouring out don't do this before you adjust your float.

And I don't understand how a jet could cause this problem.

Butch explain this a little better, is gas running out or dripping out or dribbling out????
