96 explorer, im stumped, please help!

i have a 96 explorer and i cant get it running. i will tell you everything i have checked, i have spark, seems like good , strong spark, i have compression, i have took the card apart about 5 times and everything seems to be fine, no dirt in the jets, fuel filter is good, floats appear to be working fine, i have checked to see if the flywheel key was sheared and it was not, i just put a new cdi box on and still nothing. the spark plug is never wet even if i crank on it for a while. even though i know its bad i have tried either in the cylinder and nothing. the only thing it does is sometimes backfire out the carb. it has left me stumped????????????

What is the compresion ? Needs to be at least 100psi to even start 120psi is good.

check the carb, make sure your getting gas. Try pooring a little gas in the carb and see if she will fire then. Try with out your air filter on. Try putting new gas in the quad. SOmtimes gas can go bad causing the quad not to start. Its most likely somthing to do with the carb.

At the risk of sounding like a smart a$$, do you have the fuel turned on (petcock valve?)? I've had a couple of instances where mine will turnover but not start. All because I didn't turn the fuel on. Just a thought.........

I am assuming this is the 400 two strike motor. If it is and you backfire out the carb you need to check and make sure the reed petals are sealing. If the are bent or broke it will not draw gas and will backfire out the carb.
