Default Snorkle from Airbox Removal Question

Removing the air snorkle from the airbox for an 800EFI and a 500 HO. Is that a good idea? I know this means I won't be able to get the machine in as deep water because the water will come in. However, what has anyone seen happen when it is removed? Any better performance, mileage, etc, etc?

Default Snorkle from Airbox Removal Question

I have a carb 700 and tried no snorkle, 800 snorkle and the stock snorkle along with also no snorkle at all.

Mine has a 162.5 main and is slightly rich from the factory so i could get away with the change.

It bogged alittle down low with no snorkle and alot without the lid on but had good power and ran fine with the stock and 800 snorkles on.

EFI should be fine either way. If the 500 is lean you may have problems.

I just switched back and forth and did short runs in low to see how easy it was to pop wheelies, nothing scientific.

I just put the dynojet kit on the 500 and went up a bit on the jet. There was the jet that was recommended and I went to the one that was for someone who put pipes on.
