Need Sportsman tire opinion.....
#1
I have the opportunity to trade the Carlisle Badlands tires/black rims ( with 1000 miles on them) from my 2004.5 Sortsman 500 H.O. (Camoflage) even up for Camo rims with I believe Goodyear Rawhide tires (with about 300 miles on them) from a 2004.5 Remington Special Edition 500 H.O.
My brothers neighbor owns the Remington model and is going to upgrade his rims and tires, and put the old ones on a beater 1997 sportsman. That is why he is willing to trade even up for free.
This seems to be a good deal for me, I am just wondering how the ride compares on various trail conditions. we ride a lot of hardpack and loose sand roads, with a bit of mud and snow throughout the year.
Thanks for your opinions. Paul

if the goodyears are the rawhide grips, i had those on my 600 and liked them. actually think they are better than the new stock 05 PXT tires. if goodyear made them in 26' i would have got them for the 800. never ran the badlands so sorry cant compare. good luck.

The Rawhides are not radials as your Badlands are. You will probably notice a big difference in ride and handling as the radials make for a better ride and will handle much better especially in turns. The trade off for better grip in the mud

I agree for the most part with the two above posts.
I have the GY and PXT (DU) radials, the diff is not that noticable though the radials are smoother.
The Badlands are a better sand and sport tire and the GY a better mudder /rough terrain.
I have pictures compairing them HERE
