OK, when i start the atv, it sputters and backfires when i try to speed up like it does in reverse if you don't hold in the override button. At 35 it usually quits and work rights until i let off the throttle, then it does it again. The wierd thing is that sometimes it comes out of it and works exately right for a few minutes before it does it again. When it is doing this it doesn't shut of with the key or kill switch. It is getting EXTREMELY annoying. Does anybody know what is wrong? Thanks.

 

sounds like a carburation or a timing problem. Maybe your jetting is off, or the air.fuel piltot screw is off, or maybe u are all dirt and crap or u could need a valve adjustment. just some ideas.

 

I had a similar problem when I blew a base gasket mine was doing what is called a lean idle and would not shut off with the key but would idle close to triple the rpm's as normal. My advice would be to check your plug and jet accordingly. also check compression before trying to rejet just in case you are leaking and just need a gasket or something.

 

yea i would do compresoin first. check it and make sure it is accurate. if u are not sure about it i could give u this info u need just pm me.
