Default Serious problem???

I have a 2002 Sportsman 700. I was out all day today doing some serious riding. Rocks, sand, and LOTS of deep water. After going through a mud hole, I lost power and have a very loud continuous banging and clanking in the black case cover by my right foot. The more I accelerate, the louder the knocking. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you smoked your drive belt. Take the black cover off, replaces the belt on the clutches.

Behind that cover is your starter drive, flywheel, stator, coil pulser. And after you take that stuff off and pull the cover behind them you have a bunch of gears for your Cam, Waterpump, Crank, etc.

Pull your right floorboard and pull the black cover of and see if any thing has broke or come loose around the flywheel.
