ATVers get no respect

Check this out on Dirt Riders Network. Apparently dirt bikers don't think too highly of us guys on 4 wheelers.

Don't you think that is just as much of a stereotype you're making? I wouldn't say that ALL dirtbikers hate ALL quad riders.
Yes, it is I who started that thread over on DRN. I was tipped off about this thread by a member of this site who felt the urge to e-mail me. I guess he went way over his head in ASSUMING that I have a general dislike for all quad riders. I wanted to point out what made that guy an idiot. The fact that he's riding around in a t-shirt and shorts w/ no protective gear what so ever. Sure he happens to be on a quad. Some of these same idiots happen to be on dirtbikes too. I am not foolish enough to think that idiots don't ride on 2 wheels. As soon as I find a pic of an idiot on a bike, I'll be more than glad to post it as well and declare the pictured person's stupidity.
I am sure you all here are intelligent enough to see how the guy in that pic is ruining your image. He's an accident waiting to happen. And, just as soon as he becomes a giant scab at the local riding area, you can bet someone will be there to shutdown that particular riding area. Surely all of you who ride responsibly won't stand for these types of idiots.
I felt compelled to post on this site to let you all know my intentions for posting that pic. Go find me a dirtbike pic like that one, and I'll post it too and with the same comments.
I wish you all safe and happy riding.

Greenhorn, I check out DRN from time to time because I find it interesting to get the perspective of the bike riders that I often share the trails with. I have to say I think the DRN site has alot of intelligent posts and the people that regularly post there seem like a pretty cool group in general. When I read your initial post I assumed, as you said, that you were referring to the riders lack of helmet & gear but the thread quickly developed into a little quad bashing. I was just surprised to see that quite a few people on the DRN didn't care for 4 wheelers and I thought others on the ATV site might find the thread interesting. I have nothing against bike riders and in fact I've helped out many a bike rider that has fouled a plug on the trail or ran out of gas. I found the thread kind of funny actually and if I had really taken offense to it I could have placed a post myself on the DRN. I regularly ride in areas with dirt bikers so I found the thoughts of dirt bikers concerning atvs to be interesting and I had no intention for you receive any nasty emails because of my link to your post.

I can't argue the fact that the post took a slight turn into bashing ATVer's. I really didn't think my post was going to get that many posts. And for that matter, be talked about on another message board.
I apologize if I came off a little too much on the defensive. I guess after a couple of crude e-mails, I felt it was time to stop over here and clear up the water. I know your intention wasn't to post the message over here to bash me personally or to turn the ATV crowd on me. I mainly stopped over to clarify my actions to the individuals who felt they needed to e-mail me personally and tell me where I was wrong.
Thanks for your reply Crawdad.
