LOL.. I loved the story polarisbear500 Its fun to read the things that people have done or seen
I think ETC will not stop the quad if the thumb lever is bent and holding the thottle open. It only stops the quad if the thumb lever is at idle and the throttle cable is not at idle.

i enjoy reading all the crazy things we have all done on here. it makes me feel a little bit better that i know i aint the only one who has done idiotic things on my atv.
the best one i ever did was this:
when i was about 9,my dad bought me a brand new bayou 220. we had a 10 acre field with one tree in the middle of it. well, the tree also had a jump right beside it and i loved to go fast and try to jump that area. one day, i dont know how, i somehow missed the jump and smacked the tree. i bent the front tire almost backwards. man was my dad mad at me. haha
needless to say, i never got another atv until i was 15. guess he wanted me to grow up some.

You are correct, ETC only works if Throttle cable is broken or stretched. Like you said, if the thumb lever is at idle and the cable is not, then there is a contactor that kills the ignition circuit.

I don't believe it had ETC. It was a 400cc and a 2004.

It's a trip to hear all these stories.

As far as I know, the 400 has ETC. Even my Trailblazers have ETC.

ETC seems like a pretty valueless feature if that's all it does.

Well, it works if the throttle lever on the carb is stuck, or the cable gets stuck in the rubber tube it sits in. Had that happen once on our Xplorer (the throttle cable was full of muddy water and it jammed, the quad then shut off.)

Heres 1
Dont hop on a Banshee that your about to buy and take off wide open before the guy selling it gets to tell you there is no brakes.
3 ft ditch + 60 Mph + 1 dumb butt = 2 bruised ribs , 1 bad scare on leg , 1 throttle cable ripped off , 1 bent handle bar ,1 warped frame , & 1 pride hurt
O yea I had to buy it

oh man, that had to suck on the banshee and then turn around having to buy it after it is all busted up. maybe he gave you a discount??? lol.
yeah, always watch out for those trees, they seem to be like deer, they see your atv(vehicle) coming and jump right in the way...haha
one of the scariest times i thought i was gonna flip was on my old 300 bayou that my dad finally let me get when i was 15--yea, several years after the tree incident-- i was pulling a small trailer loaded with camping supplies with a friend sitting on the rear racks. well, we were going up a steep hillside and i geared down and gave it too much gas and the front end popped up. thought we were gonna flip straight backwards. it wouldnt of been as bad but we would have landed on the trailer, then the atv on us. it would have sucked since the trailer was not hitched on the atv with a ball. it was just one of those with a pin through the hole deals.
