TOP 100 THINGS NOT TO DO WITH AN ATV
#152
Not an ATV story, but watercraft, close enough. My buddy went to look at a jet ski and rather than just motoring around by the guys house, he went screaming off across the lake....and over an 8 foot dam. Needless to say, when they found a boat and went to look for him, ,they found him an hour later on the bottom side of the dam by the shore with a broken Jetski that he was then obligated to buy. My other buddy that was there loves to tell the story.

dont ride with your stock rear brake caliper in hand, in 6 inches of snow at full blast into a tree while looking backwards and down to see if your rear brake cable is dangling into rear rotor, on a 1990 blaster. the frame was almost into 2 pieces. one frame rail broke in 1/2 right behind right lower a-arm. i almost didnt wear a helmet that day either, but my mom, insisted i wear one, then i put on my crappy helmet, thought about it for a second, and went and got my friends axo rx-5 helmet and put that on and headed out to my friends house with rear brakes in 1 hand and driving with the other.
2 minutes later, that helmet was spidered to hell. i hit a tree pretty much dead on @ about 55, and blacked out. i guess my blackedout body rolled up the tree like 20+ feet, and broke down some branches. while i was blackedout i walked the rest of the distance to my friends house (about a football field) and showed up at his doorstep with his helmet on just wake'n up from my blackout. started puking and all that fun stuff, then my parents showed up and took me to crintinton hospital in rochester, mi jeep in 4wd w/ +6 inches of snow. i remeber the ride there was fun we were haulin' ***.
i had a concusion worse than john elway, the doctor told me. i was in the hospital for lke 3 nights, 4 days. The Axo RX-5 helmet afterwards was totally unsafe to be used again, it went into the trash. it saved my life, im sure of it. 110%.

and later on in life, 5 years, my dad who drove me to the hospital that day was killed on his harley davidison fatboy with his helmet on by a drunk driver out on M-90 and Lk. Pleasant Rd. helmet didnt save him though. he died instantly, and the worst part is the drunk driver blew the stop sign at 70-80 mph. 8/19/2004 Rip Dad. see you on the other side. Dont take off in a hurry to get a quick ride in with your tank on reserve and your thinking your on a full tank after a visitor rides your ATV and you didnt know it!
Got way out in the woods after dark (Up North)Minnesota with no gas, flashlight, moon, stars ect.....
What a scary night that was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard every sound, branch crack, frog like it was right on my *** all the way home, 3 + miles lol!
To top it off,I didnt have any extra gas, ramps,a can or hose to syphen into at home anyway so I did the only thing a redneck from Florida could do!
I walked home, got my truck and went to town and got a gas can and gas, drove back to my wheeler I had pushed into the brush and filled the tank and then drove it until I could just see my trucks lights and walked back and drove the truck to the wheeler and vise versa till I got home, took a long time and I wish I could say I was drunk but no,just stupid lol!
I now am prepared for the up north life and allways carry a full gas can in my rack just incase I or some other poor soul needs it lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

i heard this one, dont know if it is true or not....
some guys gas was frozen so he had the geniuos idea to try and boil some other gas to pour into the tank to have it thaw the frozen out. well, lets just say he didnt make it to the frozen gas. like i said, i heard that story, so i dont know whether or not it happened, but at any rate, dont try to boil gas.
