Default Predator Power increase

so i talked to my dealer today, mainly stuff about the upgrades im going to do to my pred, but he mentioned that the 2006 predators motor was bumped to 52 crank horsepower from 46. i donno if this is true, but my dealer is very knowledgeable and so far all the info hes told me has been correct. anyway, i found it really interesting

WOW, if that's true, that's about a 11.5% increase in power. I'd say that's pretty strong, but like the sound of it. Any idea of how they got that?

im going to guess a different cam, i was reading about Hondas new TRX450ER how by doing that they bumped the 450r's power to 50 by changeing the cam, header bend and a different muffler cap.

seems kind of fishy for 52 horses, but even if, im sure it will make raptors shake in their boots

Have you GPS'd that thing for top speed yet? I'd be courious about that too, not that top speed has much to do with anything, except talking about it...LOL

I got mine (with no mods except the pipe) to 74.6 on an old runway. And I'm a pretty big guy and still didn't hit the limiter in 5th. I was thinking about trying it again cause after I took the quite core out of my pipe, I was able to hit the limiter in 5th. Just didn't have the GPS on me at the time.

My guess is they changed something fairly simple, like the headpipe or exhaust. Hard to say about those numbers. And if they are talking about a quad like yours spyder.......you already have a pipe, so that is easier to get hp........hard to tell how they came about the numbers, as I said. Not many people care anyway.......because they are usually not true.

if you wanna known, polaris always said the motor was putting a real
50 hp even back in 03 when they first came out,BUT as an early stage
first year production back then, the motor wasn't showing the same powerband cauze of the lower detuned unit,i guess the reall gain from
03 to 06 is only the tranny wich transfer a lot more power
to the wheels, beside it is the same engine all throught the years,
we even find out the 03 was faster out of the box but still
need some little data updates to it to run as smoother (carb tuning).
