The new Polaris side Body Guards do a real good job of protecting the footwells, foot boards, floorboards, or whatever you want to call them. A 3/16” metal plate mounts under the two frame tubes that support the footwell plastic. The steel reaches out past the outer edge of the wells then curls up and back in toward the machine to “grab” the fender guard tubes where the connect in the center. They list for about $130 per side but they only come in silver metal flake. Mine were scuffed up and “repainted” with black truck bed liner to match my front brush guard and rear bumper.
I was going to weld / bend up some steel nerf bars but now I don’t have to. These are pretty impressive.

take a look at my pictures. I had the same problem (who doesn't). I fabricated a simple set of guards that I bolted to the slots (extended off the main frame). No problems since- they work becuase the underside of the fabbed pieces are banged and scratched to hell. Saves me $95 every time- that is if you mind you FB looking like a shark took a hit on you.
