I tryed to skim through what all of you said, so excuse me if someone mentioned this.......

All of the guys saying 5w-50 will work- ARE CORRECT
but I might add something. I would run the 0w-40 UNTIL your quad is out of warrenty. IF there is an engine failure, the manufacture can VOID the warrenty if they test the oil.
Personally I suggest the 0w-40 for about the first four oil changes to allow for a propper break-in, then I would go with the 5w-50. Like someone else on here I am a mechanic also, but I have 20 years of engines under my belt from 30cc's up to 15L diesels!

Well I just got done changing my oil and I used the 5w-50 and think I will use it from now on. I have an oil pressure gauge on my 700 and at start up the oil pressure was about the same (40 pounds @ idle) with both the 0w-40 & 5w-50. Ridin down the road both are about the same. The only place the oil pressure is different is at idle after the atv is warmed up. It used to be around 8 pounds now its 25 pounds.

I use 0w40 Mobil 1 only ($5.49). Especially in the winter.
No need for 4 stroke wet clutch high priced oil here.

Purulator 14610
AC Delco pf2057

P 14610 crosses to a AC PF2057, much better filter for $3.69.
the AC has a anti drain back and relief valve.
