ok found my answer to part of my questions. the xtr is the radial version of the xl which is tall tread then the at. now im reading a comparison between the 589 and the lites and handling seems to be a big issue.

Default another stupid tire question

I have the mudlite xl on stock wheels and they are a bad a$$ tires. Great in mud, snow, trail, rocks and streams. I choose them for there price first of all, and second the tread depth is a full 1 1/4 inch deep. They are a little rough upon start up and stopping, but I dont mind that much. After all I am riding a quad.

Love my new XTR's, I'll get some pics up today. They are a huge difference in traction over the stock pxt's and the 14 inch Bounty Hunter's I had.
