I can't wait untill the lakes freeze enough to ride on..We set up an oval track with cones last year and studded out the tires with sheet metal screws and it was the best time I've ever had on a quad. This year I bought racing studs with the V shaped head and 1/2" shank. Anyone one else flat track race on the ice?

I wish,
Here in Southern Indiana we have two major factors working against us, few lakes and not enough sustained cold weather to freeze the ones we do have solid enough to ride a quad on. Sounds like fun though!

Thats sounds like a really good time . I always have enjoyed riding a quad in frozen weather the best . You can just get stuck , ride in the deepest of snow , and never have to wash a thing . Just pull it in the garage and let it thaw .

That reminds me of the ice races they used to have on Cedar Lake, in Cedar Lake Indiana. I used to ride my 1982 XL250 in the junior class. Ice racing champ Jeff Ferdette used to set up my bike each year when we owned Service Honda up in Hammond. Those were the days........when I could crash and not get hurt! Ice racing is pretty awsome. Until this year, it has been a decade since we have had any real ice up here.

I've done most of my ice riding on the Warrior I used to have. I did'nt win any races with it but I still had fun. I'm going to stud up thr Grizzly this year and I'm sure the sport quads will beat me but I still plan on having a good time.

For anyone in southeast Michigan, one of the biggest meeting places for ice racing is at the top of Anchor Bay in lake St Clair near the dnr launch ramp. A good weekend will have hundreds of tow rigs parked on the ice with sled drags and bike oval track racing. It is quite the sight!!

My neighbor drag races sleds on the ice. He usually places up pretty high in the world finals; he has a very cool sled. 1/8th mile in 5.9 seconds. Whew...
