How dependable are the sportsman 90's
I bought my son a sportsman 90 in the late fall of 2002. He did not hardly ride it at all the first year until I put a throttle extender on it. Now the quad may have been ridden 50-60 miles and we can't seem to keep it running. Two months ago I had it in the shop because of a fuel problem ($110.00 ) we rode a few times and now it has no spark at the plug. I am trained to repair farm tractors and industrial machines but this little quad has me stumped. I bought the service manual and still know nothing. How does the ignition system know when to fire the plug? I have never seen an ignition coil with only one wire and one plug wire before. My dealer stocks nothing for this quad is this common to have alot of trouble with this model and why is it so hard to get parts? 3-10 days for anything I ask for.

well i had similiar problems when i had it. not sure why. but never take it in water that is higher than the airbox because it is right behind the front wheel which sucks alot!!! after fixing it for the 4th time we never took it through any water at all and it runs fine. we got that thing bored out twice as well so it is like a 100cc now i guess?! but it is still hard to start up because it is a 2-stroke probably! sorry i couldn't help you guys.
