there is nothing to grab onto at all.

Try a drill bit... drill a hole a large one and find a nice size allen wrench that will fit snug in the hole... jb weld the allen wrench in there and yank it out

thanks for the advice, but its broken off pretty jagged.
ive tried to get it with 2 flat screwdrivers, and a set of vise grips.
there isnt a flat spot to drill. sucks to be me.

Grind a flat spot in the center of the shaft with a Dremal or grinder, then use a center punch to make a punch mark, then drill with a tiny drill bit and work your way up in bit sizes, then tap the hole for an eye bolt. Tie some wire to the eye bolt then tie the other end of the wire to the head of a three pound hammer, then swing away.

If you still can drive in three wheel drive, are you sure your talking about the input shaft and not an axle. If its an axle take out the other side and pound it out from the other side with a brass rod. I reread your post. just take out the other side and pound it out

the input shaft on the u joint end of the front axle, not the main shaft from the tranny.
there isnt any fluid in there, meaning its open from one side to the other?

There is fluid but its encased in the housing. Take other the other axles and pound the broke piece out!
