well upon inspection of my well worn clutch {3800 hard miles} i have found this... belt about a 1/4 inch thinner than a new one. clutch sheaves are worn badly at the bottom and there is heat cracks all over the sheaves. the driven clutch also has wear on it but no cracks bear in mind the bike still runs well but i am noticing a vibration at higher speeds thats why i inspected the belt.. does any one sell a complete setup with performance gains or do i have to get a new setup from dealer and modify i also wonder if a 800 setup will work and how it would afect my overall performance i use the bike hard i drag logs plow snow move dirt/gravel {always in low range} and generally just ride the hell out of it help please!!

Well if you got 3800 miles on a 2001 clutch, I can only guess that it’s a non- EBS unit.
They changed over halfway through that year.
And like every first year they have had some problems. The EBS units usually last about 1000 miles under medium to hard work. What wear out are the sheave faces, so there is no rebuilding them. You will notice that the wear is down low around the Sprague.
You will know it’s going when the machine starts to creep and is harder to shift.
If it’s a non EBS and you want to change it to an EBS unit you will have to change the driven also as they are a completely different unit.

no this is a ebs unit and yes it is worn badly down low in the grooves next to the ridges i know of several other bikes with ebs with this mileage range on them and their not wore as badly as mine is does not creep shifts smoothly but does have a higher engaugement than it used to i'd guess because the belt is so thin

I have a 2002 and I burned up my clutch from that year (like I described) and it comes from soft castings, some are good some are not! Seems they fixed it in the new ones.
I also drag a lot of trees and plow it’s hard on belt drive systems!
If you got 3800 on it GREAT! Now if you want to buy a new one it’ about 369.00. without spring and weights
If your belt is worn that much I would replace it and see if it solves your problem and you may get a few hundred more miles out of the clutch .
Also I personally think a high engagement with the machine pulling or plowing is what wears these units out. I would keep it stock. But I like the spring rates that put more side pressure on the belt but don’t raise engagement. The wear on both the cultch and the belt comes from the belt slipping.
