I have a sportsman 500 ho I cant get any spark after changing the oil. I have tried all connections, new coil, unpluged the black wire from the cdi, adjusted the throttle cable and nothing. I would really appreciate any help thanks

First, just go back and check all the switches to make sure they are in the run position. I know it may sound foolish but I've found that sometimes we get tunnel vision and forget to check the simple easy stuff. I've been there and done it on more than one occasion. Recheck all your connections and make sure the spark plug your using is good. Just because it's new doesn't mean it will fire. Check it on something else that you know has spark to be sure. If it was OK until you changed the oil, look for wiring that could have been disturbed while you were performing this maintenance.(We tend to create our own problems when making repairs sometimes, so this is always is a good place to begin looking when a problem arises.) If it was firing/running before the oil change, there is the (slight) chance that the CDI just picked this time to die. Electronics, as good and reliable as they are sometimes just quit for no apparent reason and without warning. If you can borrow a CDI off a friend with the same model you could do a quick swap to see if the CDI is the problem. I am not sure where the wires come out from the trigger unit down on the engine but this is another area to check for damaged wiring or bad/loose connections. Hopefully some of this will help. If you eliminate the CDI and any wiring problems it only leaves the trigger unit. Good luck.
