Aftermarket Polaris Brake Pads?
#1
Last fall, after a day of hunting, my dad and I were descending a mountain on an old skidder trail. When I slowed for a technical section my dad on his 2000 Polaris 425 rammed into the back of my Kawasaki. He said he was squeezing the brakes as hard as possible and his machine did not slow. It had been above freezing during the day but now was below freezing. Since then I have been testing the brakes in different conditions and discovered that while the brakes work fine when warm and when it's cold there are certain conditions (warm to cold) where the brakes don't work at all. I'm thinking it's from the disks icing up. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a different type of brake pad that won't be susceptible to icing up?

With the heat build up on the brakes it shouldnt be a problem, if so just drag them a little every now and then.
I have never had this problem although if the pads are warn to the limit (or rotors) it may not lock up, bleeding may be in order also if they dont lock up with new pads.
